I think the Head of Julian.
I do not know how to account for
the Inscription.
DN CONSTANTI ................. from this one
wd think this Coin a Constantine: but the
Head does not resemble either of the Constant-
tines: and I do not find that Julian took
the name of Constantinus or any name like it.
His Titles were FL. CLAVDIVS IVLIANVS.
The Reverse is a Warrior on Foot directing his
Javelin against an Horseman, with his Horse
falling to the Ground. FEL TEMP ..................
Dufresne describes this Rev: upon a Coin of Julians
as does also Occo., and I find one such of 132
Constati ... probably means
Constantine -- and a coin
of his described by Occo, &
has the reverse here men-
tioned.
I D.
133 Imperial brass Coins.
either of the Constantines.
I shd think CONSTANTI. might prossibly be
filled up Constantinopolis as in No. 232. , 233.
but here is DN. Dominus noster, which shews it
be the Emperors name & not the Cities.
I cannot tell what to determine of this
Coin,; the Head speaks it to be Julians. itIt
shd be inquired how he came to put CONSTAN
TINVS CONSTAN-
TINVS upon a Coin of his. Casaub. See Entry in Catalog Li Ms E16c 313 Head of Constantius
