Grubbet House

Description of institution: A seat of a branch of the Bennet family:
[NT 779248], just east of Morebattle near the Border with England. Nothing remains, but there was probably a tower house called Grubethous. William Bennet of Grubbet supported the Union of the Parliaments in 1707, and he led a force that protected Kelso from the Jacobites in the 1715 Rising. The lands passed to the Marquis of Tweeddale.
