William Stukeley (7 Nov 1687 - 3 Mar 1765)
Antiquarian and natural philosopher. Elected a fellow of the Royal Society on 20 March 1718. According to Simpson,Stukeley claimed to have begun his collection in 1726 when he moved to Grantham, and in the following year he sent a long memoir on Newton to Richard Mead, Newton’s physician, under whom Stukeley had studied when first in London.
