Samuel Buck (1696 - 1779)
Engraver, painter, and print-maker. He visited Ralph Thoresby 16-19 October 1719 along with Samuel Warburton with the purpose of taking some drawings of some local prospects. On October 19th Buck drew "a new prospect of the town from Priest-cliff, near Cavalier Hill" (Diary 2: 264-6). These drawings were for a survey of Yorkshire which Warbuton intended to publish (Hall, vii).
