Gilbert Heathcote (2 Jan 1652/3 - 25 Jan 1733)

Merchant and politician. As a merchant, Heathcote traded in many commodities and had interests in slavery. He sat in the House of Commons between 1701 and 1733. He was a Governor of the Bank of England and was Lord Mayor of London in 1711. Heathcote was knighted in October 1702, elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1705, and created a baronet in January 1733.
