Dudley Digges (19 May 1583 - 18 Mar 1639)

English diplomat, politician, and investor in the Virginia Company of London. John Tradescant the Elder accompanied Digges on a failed embassy to Tsar of Russia in June 1618. Tradescant used the opportunity of the voyage to collect natural specimens, particularly plants, for his collection. Tradescant kept a diary of his trip. Tradescant might also have designed Digges' gardens at Chilham (Leith-Ross, 52).
