Joshua Hoyle (1588 - 1654)

Professor of Divinity at Trinity College Dublin and Master of University College, Oxford. He served in the Westminster Assembly from 1643–1649. The assembly “was commissioned by parliament in July 1643 to revise the doctrine, liturgy, and government of the English church” (Van Dixhoorn).

A “character” (presumably a short biography rather than a short satirical sketch) of Hoyle was included in a manuscript collected by Thoresby (537).
