John Hadley (16 Apr 1682 - 14 Feb 1744)

Natural philosopher, mathematician, and Fellow of the Royal Society. The trustees for his settlement of marriage to Elizabeth Hodges (daughter of Thomas Hodges FRS) included Sir Hans Sloane, who had a town house near Hadley's in Bloomsbury. He and Sloane were long-time friends and, at times, correspondents. Probably the "Mr. Hadley" named as a benefactor in Salter's museum catalogues. Another possibility is John Hadley (1731–1764), physician and chemist, also a fellow of the Royal Society, though not as apparently connected to Sloane, who was the central facilitator of Salter's collection.
