Henry Stubbes (1632 - 1676)
Physician, author, and political pamphleteer. Later hostile to the Royal Society. Appointed the King's physician to Jamaica. His (and his sons') name was variously spelled "Stubbes" and "Stubbs." Published a tract called The Indian Nectar, or, a Discourse Concerning Chocolata (1662) in which he extolled the virtues of chocolate (Willes, 195).
