Henry St Clair (1660 - 1723)
Grandson of John Sinclair, 10th Lord Sinclair (1610–1676). Henry inherited his title through his mother, Catherine Sinclair, only child and heir of John Sinclair, the 10th Lord Sinclair. Henry's father was John Sinclair, 23rd Lord Herdmanston (1632–1666), and Henry had four brothers:• William St Clair of Carfrae
• Robert St Clair (Governor of Tilbury)
• George St Clair (a merchant, Baillie and Magistrate of Edinburgh)
• Dr. Matthew St Clair
"Inherited the estates of his maternal grandfather 1676; signed the Test Act 1685; was the only Scottish Peer to protest against the Act of Convention that settled the Crown on King William and Queen Mary; suspected of complicity with the intended French invasion of Scotland and imprisoned in Edinburgh Castle 1707/8" (Croft Peerage).
