He was sent to grammar school at Wakefield and then for two years to Beverley. He was admitted a pensioner at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, at the age of 16 on 14 April 1698, graduating as B.A. in 1701 and as M.A. in 1705. He was ordained deacon (York) in September 1707 and priest in 1708. In 1712 he was appointed incumbent curate of Yarm in the North Riding, but resigned that post in 1724, when he went to York. He was appointed rector of Welbury in 1720, prebend of Ripon, 1720-1728, and rector of St. Martin, York, 1724-1728. Perrott married Anastasia, daughter of George Plaxon, rector of Berwick-on-Tweed, and died in 1728. His son George was a judge and one of the barons of the Court of Exchequer (Venn and Venn, vol. 3, pt. 1, p. 349; Fowler, p.315).
