Anthony Cope, Esq. ( - fl. 1728)
According to Beaver, one of the seven sons of Sir John Cope (5th Baronet) and brother of John Cope (6th Baronet) and of Galen Cope, and one of the "Copes of Little Chelsea" (117, 333). Anthony Cope was an acquaintance of Moses Goodyear, addressing "several witty letters" to him "from various parts of the Continent" (Beaver, 117). Beaver also cites "an anonymous letter (apparently by Anthony Cope) to Moses Goodyear, of Church Place, Chelsea, 1697" telling Goodyear to "Forget me not at Salter's in the next bowle," evidently referring to Salter's famous punch bowl (204). Both Cope and Goodyear were benefactors of Salter's museum.Relationships: Anthony Cope was a brother of Sir John Cope (1673-1749)
