Lady Norcliffe (1654 - 1731)

The heir of Sir William Vavasour of Copmanthorpe, she married Sir Thomas Norcliffe of Langton (1641-1684), who was born deaf and dumb. After the death of her husband in 1684, Frances married Moses Goodyear of Chelsea, identified by Burke as an Aleppo merchant (II.631). She is portrayed in a portrait by Peter Lely. She is still identified as "Lady Norclife" in the of benefactor in the catalogues of Salter's Museum. Relationships: Lady Norcliffe was a wife of Moses Goodyear (before 1696-c. 14 Mar 1728)
