Thomas Trenchfield (1579 - 1646)
Sea captain. According to Leith-Ross, "He died in 1646 at the age of sixty-seven and must have been a man of means as his will provided for the provision and endowment of four almshouses, whose inmates were to be nominated by Trinity House" (174). His first known services was as Captain and Commanding Officer of Mary Rose, 1637 to 1638. He became captain of HMS Unicorn in 1642 and served as Flag Officer and Vice-Admiral aboard the Rainbow in 1646 ("Three Decks"). He was named as a benefactor in Musaeum Tradescantianum.
