Ship's captain and agent for Robert Ellis, who collected for James Petiver. In a letter to Petiver, Ellis writes about the Captain, "'who lives up to ye South Ward amongst ye Indians' and who would fill out a book with the indigenous names and uses of various plants" (Maydom, 224).
