John Lilburne (c.1614 - 9 Aug 1657)

English political Leveller in the English Civil Wars era 1642–1650. He was subject to a series of trials for his agitation for civil "freeborn rights," earning him the nickname "Freeborn John." His supporters struck a medal in his honour: it has his head on one side and those of the jurymen who acquitted him on the other (283).
