Goldalming

Description of institution: Godalming is a historic market town, civil parish and administrative centre of the Borough of Waverley in Surrey, England, 4 miles (6.4 km) south-south-west of Guildford and 30.5 mi (49.1 km) south-west of London. It traverses the River Wey in the Greensand Ridge – a hilly, wooded part of London's Metropolitan Green Belt. In 1881, it was the world's first place to have public electricity supplies.[3]

The town has visual appeal, favourable transport links and high proportion of private housing.[4] In 2007 it was voted fourth-best UK area in which to live.[5] Waverley borough, which includes Godalming, was judged in 2013 to have the highest quality of life in Britain,[6] and in 2016 to be the most prosperous.
