Attached People: Collector (major) - Bargrave, John (1610-1680)
Location(s): Current location at - Canterbury Cathedral Library and Archives (Library and/or Archive) -> Canterbury Cathedral (Institution)
Annotation:[Canterbury Catalog: Three shards of pottery, believed to be Samian, each apparently from the rim of separate vessels. Changes in colour, shape and texture of the materials used show that they originated from different objects. The largest two have part of the lip along the top edges. The smallest has a smooth edge. The largest is pitted lightly inside and out, and darker than the other two. Samian ware, also known as "terra sigillata", is the term used to describe the bright red pottery produced from the 1st century AD to the 3rd century AD in Gaul and Germany.] (approx 1st cent AD -3rd cent AD)
