Annotation:[Canterbury Catalog: Fragment from an oval of green Jasper. It is a strong mineral gem which makes it ideal for engravers and jewellers. Jasper is found in many countries. It is sometimes used to create bowls and other objects and to adorn buildings, like the Saint Wenceslas Chapel in Prague. The look of the Jasper is often what gives its name, hence, with this item, "Olive Green Jasper". A dense, opaque, microcrystalline variety of quartz, usually red, brown or yellow and coloured by oxides of iron. It is used as a decorative stone. ] (approx 1st - 10th cent AD)
