Annotation:[Canterbury Catalog: Bronze seal, or matrix, of Greyfriars of Newark, Nottinghamshire, included in the collection perhaps as a result of the support given by the town to Charles I. Found in a Canon's house in the precincts in 1747 and assimilated sometime after that. In hot metal typesetting, a matrix (often abbreviated to "mat") is a mould for casting the letters known as sorts used in letterpress printing.] (approx 18th cent)
