Annotation:[Canterbury Catalog: Nine pieces and fragments of cinder. Four large pieces, two small pieces, and three stone fragments of a different material. "Small cinders and pummy stones of Mont Aetna, in Sicily, where I never was; but I had them from my Lord of Winchelsy, my noble friend, who hath been there". Mount Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and is in an almost constant state of eruption. The fertile volcanic soils support extensive agriculture, with vineyards and orchards spread across the lower slopes of the mountain and the broad Plain of Catania to the south.] (undated)
