Sebastian Faesch (8 Jul 1647 - 12 May 1712)

Sebastian Faesch was born in Basel in July 1647, son of Christopher Faesch, professor of history at the University of Basel, and Catherine Grüntzer. He studied at university of Grenoble before earning his doctorate at Basel, where he later became professor. In his youth he travelled to France, England, and Italy, where he expressed an interest in collections and numismatics. He died on 12 May 1712.

In England he visited Canterbury (no mention of the Bargrave collection), London, Oxford, and Cambridge. Describes the collection of the Anatomical School, Oxford (cf. Gunther Vol. 3, pp. 255 and 263).
