Michael Wicks ( - fl. 1698)

Clerk of the Royal Society from the first meeting of its council, 13 May 1663, to at least 27 November 1683, with continued involvement with the Society until at least 1696 (Ray, 6). Ray identifies him as to donor of several petrified scallops to the Royal Society (ibid.). Surname also styled "Weekes." Relationships: Michael Wicks was a donor to Nehemiah Grew (1641-1712)

A great petrify'd SCALLOP. Figur'd by Ambrosinus (b) (b) Aldrov. Mus. Metall. with the Name of Hippopectinites. Given with several more of the same bigness, by Mr. Wicks. 'Tis half a foot over. Many of the same kind were taken out of a great Rock in Virginia, forty miles from Sea or River.
