Courten Association (founded 1637 - )

"Many of Courten's commercial interests were related to the East Indies venture initiated by his father. The partnership, since known as Courten's Association, was reorganized during 1637, when it received a new commission from the crown confirming all former grants and authorizing the partners to send out ships and goods to the East for five years ‘without impeachment or denial of the East India Company or others’" ("Courten," DNB).
