Richard Beaumont, Captain (1670 - 1723)

Career soldier and son of military captain of the same name (1638-1706). Born and died in Kirkheaton. In 1687, he accompanied the Duke of Albemarle to Jamaica where the Duke was to be Governor. Thoresby, in an annotation to Beaumont's entry, identifies his visitor as a captain who was in Jamaica with Dr. Sloane. Sloane was on that same voyage with the Duke of Albemarle.
