William, 3rd Earl of Pembroke Herbert (1580 - 1630)

Courtier and patron of the arts. The son of Henry Herbert, 2nd Earl of Pembroke and his third wife Mary Sidney, he became Chancellor of the University of Oxford and founder (with King James) of Pembroke College. He gave 242 Greek manuscripts (the Barocci Collection) to the Bodleian Library in 1629.
