Thomas Perrott, Reverend (1682 - 1728)

Clergyman. Born in York in 1682, the fourth son of Andrew Perrott (1632-1700/1), Lord Mayor of York (1693-1694), and nephew of Richard (1629-1670) and grandson of Dr. Richard Perrott, prebend of York and vicar of Holy Trinity, Kingston-upon-Hull. He was sent to grammar school at Wakefield and then for two years to Beverley. He was admitted a pensioner at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, at the age of 16 on 14 April 1698, graduating as B.A. in 1701 and as M.A. in 1705. He was ordained deacon (York) in September 1707 and priest in 1708. In 1712 he was appointed incumbent curate of Yarm in the North Riding, but resigned that post in 1724, when he went to York. He was appointed to the perpetual curacy of Kirklevington and held it from 1715 to 1727. He was appointed rector of Welbury in 1720, prebend of Ripon, 1720-1728, and rector of St. Martin, York, 1724-1728. Perrott married Anastasia, daughter of George Plaxon, rector of Berwick-on-Tweed, and died in 1728. His son George was a judge and one of the barons of the Court of Exchequer (Venn and Venn, vol. 3, pt. 1, p. 349; Fowler, p.315).
