John Dawney, 1st Viscount Downe (c. 1625 - 1 Oct 1695)

English politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1660 and 1690, elected MP for Pontefract in the Cavalier Parliament of 1661. In 1663 he was part of a commission tasked with investigating the Yorkshire Plot (also known as the Farnley Wood Plot) to overturn the monarchy.
