Henry, the elder Wilkinson (1566 - 1647)

Clergyman. He served in the Westminster Assembly from 1643–1647. The assembly “was commissioned by parliament in July 1643 to revise the doctrine, liturgy, and government of the English church” (Van Dixhoorn).

A “character” (presumably a short biography rather than a short satirical sketch) of Wilkinson the elder was included in a manuscript collected by Thoresby (537). Thoresby or the manuscript identifies Wilkinson as being from Yorkshire, although his Yorkshire roots are unclear.
Relationships: Henry, the elder Wilkinson was a father of Henry, the younger Wilkinson (1610-1675)
