Giles Firmin (1614 - 1697)
Congregational minister and prolific writer on theological and ecclesiastical controversy. He was ordained deacon of the first church of John Cotton in Massachusetts before returning to England c. 1647. Probably the "Firmin" named by Thoresby among the "vast Number of the Clergy and Laity, as more eminent for Learning, Benefactions, or military Atchievements, &c." (550).
