Francis West, Captain (28 Oct 1586 - Feb 1633/1634)

Deputy Governor of Virginia, he was the second surviving son of Thomas West, 2nd Baron De La Warr (1556–1602) and Anne Knollys (1555–1608), a lady at Queen Elizabeth's court. His elder brother, Thomas West (1577–1618), was a governor of the Virginia Company, and his younger brother, John West (1590-ca 1659), was Acting Governor of Virginia from 1635–1637. He arrived at Jamestown as a sea captain in July 1608.

He is likely the "Captain West" who is named as a benefactor in Musaeum Tradescantianum (174).
