Fabian Philips (1601 - 1690)

Lawyer, antiquarian and friend of John Aubrey, "who spent his time and money publishing books devoted to the Royalist cause": possibly the "Mr. Phillips" named as a benefactor in Musaeum Tradescantianum (Leith-Ross, 178). Aubrey describes him as being "[o]f great assiduity, and reading, and a great lover of antiquities," possessing "a great memorie" (150). Relevant locations: Birth place in Glympton, Oxfordshire
