Roettier John (1631 - 1703)

The central figure in a family of engravers and medallists. He was invited to England by Charles II in 1661 and was joined by his two brothers, Joseph (1635–1703) and Philip Roettier (1640–1718), who assisted him in his role as chief engraver at the Royal Mint. Joseph left for France in 1679 and Philip to the Low Countries in 1685. John continued at the mint until 1689, assisted by his sons James (1663–1698) and Norbert Roettier (1665?–1727).
