Edmond Halley (1656 - 1742)

Astronomer and fellow of the Royal Society. From his scientific endeavors in a voyage to the Americas in 1698-1699, Halley "submitted some barnacles to the Society, which he observed to be of quick growth" (Weld 1.351). He many coastal regions of the Americas.
