Duke of Norfolk's Palace

Description of institution: The palace was begun by Thomas Howard (1473-1554), Duke of Norfolk, on the South side of the River Wensum, on what is now Duke Street. In the early seventeenth-century, the palace was restored to the Howard family. In 1663, the 5th Duke of Norfolk was in residence again. The 6th Duke of Norfolk began major renovations in 1672 (Records of Early English Drama). Images linked to this location:
