Joshua Thoresby ( - fl. 1703)

In a diary entry for 8 March 1678/9, Ralph Thoresby describes "[p]erusing some old parchments with cousin Joshua Thoresby" (1: 14). Joshua was in fact a sibling of Thoresby's father (by a different mother) and married Mary, sister of Mr. George Lumley "the Aristocrat," but perhaps close in age (Ducatus, 73). In his 12 July 1703 entry, Thoresby records showing his "collections to cousin Thoresby, of Chester-in-the-Street, and his wife, of the ancient family of the Lumleys" (1: 436). Visitor
