Abraham Van der Doort (1575 - 1640)

Artist and curator. Vam der Doort first served Emperor Rudolf II in Prague before going to England c. 1610 where he became keeper of prince Henry's cabinet room with an annual salary of £50. Henry was "determination to acquire a life-sized female bust in coloured wax, which van der Doort had made to a commission from Rudolf but not yet delivered" (OED). Van der Doort made the wax hands and face for the prince's funeral effigy. Under prince (and later King) Charles he was keeper of the cabinet, surveyor of pictures, and master embosser and maker of medals (OED).
