Richard Frankland (1630 - 1698)

Influential nonconformist minister and educator. On 8 March 1670, Frankland opened his first dissenting academy at Rathmell, teaching "logic, metaphysics, somatology, pneumatology, natural philosophy, divinity and chronology" (ODNB). He opened final iteration in Attercliffe after 1686. See Dale, 187-195.
