Baptist Hicks, 1st Viscount Campden (1551 - 18 Oct 1629)

Court silk merchant who conducted business at the White Bear in Cheapside. According to Leith-Ross, he was "[o]ne of very few merchants to be honoured with a title," having "achieved his position through the influence of his brother, Sir Michael, who had worked for Robert Cecil" (168-9). He is named as a benefactor in Musaeum Tradescantianum.
