Pett Phineas (1 Nov 1570 - Aug 1647)

Naval administrator and Master Shipwright, in which capacity and he is linked with Sir John Trevor (Leith-Ross, 170). Pett is named as a benefactor in Musaeum Tradescantianum. According to Leith-Ross:
Pett was renowned for the intricate models of the ships that he constructed and, while the Ashmolean Museum has such a model, there is none listed in the Musaeum Tradescantianum (and such a prize exhibit surely would have been). Moreover this surviving example is now regarded as greatly inferior to Pett's workmanship and not of comparable date.

Pett had sailed on the Unity to Virginia in 1609 and Tradescant had sailed with him on the Mercury's voyage to the Mediterranean in 1620. They must also have renewed acquaintance when, in command of the Prince, Pett brought Henrietta Maria over from Boulogne as a bride when Tradescant was acting as baggage-master to Buckingham (170-71).
