Charles Hatton, Captain (1635 - 1708)

A keen horticulturist and patron of John Ray (Riley, 94). Probably the same Captain Charles Hatton who contributed to Petiver's Gazophylacii and possibly to the Ashmolean Museum. He donated medieval manuscripts to the Bodleian library (Macray, 142), including one of The Canterbury Tales (MS. Hatton donat.1). Botanist
