Adam Holt (1691? - 1750)

Gardener, nurseryman, and garden designer. Both Petiver (c. 1708) and Richard Bradley refer to him as gardener of the Bishop of London, Henry Compton (Cowell, 214). As early as 1710 he appears to have been established in Leytonstone near Grove Green where he established a nursery (ibid.). Beginning in 1713, he worked for George London in establishing the gardens at Sir Richard Child's Wanstead House. Relevant locations: Lived at or near Leytonstone, Essex
