Johann Friedrich Leopold (02 Feb 1676 - 04 May 1711)

Born in Lubeck, Germany, and educated in Altdorf, Strasbourg, Zurich, Basel (MD 1700), he travelled in France, Italy, England and Holland, and later in Sweden and Denmark (1706-1707). He amassed an impressive cabinet of curiosities containing many specimens of minerals. Leopold became a fellow of the Royal Society in 1709, nominated by John Woodward. (Source: Royal Society.)
