William Hawkins ( - fl. 1681)

In a letter to his son Edward in 1669, Browne names a Mr. Hawkins between Bishop Edwards and a "Mr. Dentry, now with the Bishop." If we can infer a particular connection between Hawkins and the Bishop as well, this Mr. Hawkins might be the Dr. William Hawkins whom Browne identifies as a Prebend of the Cathedral in 1681 (Repertorium, 36). He proceeded MA at Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1660 and was ordained priest and deacon in the same year (CCED). He was appointed 5th Prebend of Norwich Cathedral in 1667. Relevant locations: Lived at or near Norwich, Norfolk
Relationships: William Hawkins was a friend of Edward Brown (1644-1708)
William Hawkins was a friend of Thomas Browne (19 Nov 1605-19 Oct 1682)
William Hawkins was a worked with Edward Reynolds (1599-1676)
