Annotation:Selwyn and Selwyn note that Henry VIII’s “‘little study called the newe Librarye'” (whose use “resembled that of a muniment room rather than a library”) “closely resembled the 'cabinet of curiosities' of art and nature associated the collectors of the early seventeenth century (such as Sir Robert Cotton) referred to by Sir Henry Wotton in his Elements of architecture, published in 1624, as 'Repositories for workes of rarity in Picture or other Arts, by the called Studioli'” (504).
