Jeffrey Hudson (1619 - 1682)

A dwarf who was introduced into the household of the Duchess of Buckingham by his father (a butcher employed by the Duke) and who later entered the household of the Queen. The countess introduced him to the king and queen having him emerge from a cold baked pie during a feast given in their honour. He was depicted in a print of 1636 along with a giant, William Evans (7½ feet tall) and Thomas Parr (d. 1635), who was reputedly 152 years old. Although treated as a curiosity, Hudson was also employed abroad on state business. His waistcoat, breeches, and stockings are extant in the Ashmolean Museum.
